Violence Prevention & Victim Services

SHIFT Chicago empowers young adults aged 18 to 34 who are justice-involved by improving their earning power through workforce entry, skill-building, and education.

Centers’ Violence Prevention and Intervention (VPI) department has a comprehensive, trauma-informed approach to violence prevention that works to reduce the impact of continued exposure to traumatic stress from community violence. Our goal is to provide supportive opportunities to both victims and perpetrators of violence that will change the trajectory of their lives.

Our Programs

READI CHICAGO works toward safer communities by addressing trauma and increasing opportunity among men most likely to experience gun violence.

We hire & train community members to serve as ambassadors, creating a visible, welcoming presence at neighborhood commercial centers.

We hire and train Safe Passage workers to support children traveling to and from school during arrival and dismissal bell times.
